Other Services

AIBS SPARS employs a staff, including PhD-level scientists, with a variety of scientific and research backgrounds. All of our staff are committed to providing clients with the highest quality scientific and meeting support services. The projects outlined below are a few examples of other services we have provided to clients by drawing upon the varied skills and backgrounds of our staff.

Heinz Center Report: Report from the Non-Native Species Task Group

In 2006, at the request of the H. John Heinz Center for Science, Economics and the Environment, AIBS convened a peer review panel (mail review and teleconference) of eight experts from government, industry, academia, and non-governmental agencies to critique the report Tracking Non-native Species: Indicator Design and Data Assessment for the United States. The review panel was assembled expressly to bring to bear on the report insight and knowledge of indicators that describe the ecology, prevalence, impacts, and control of non-native species. AIBS compiled the reviewers' written comments and the results of the teleconference into one critique.

FAMRI Compendium Editing

In 2006, AIBS SPARS assisted the Flight Attendants Medical Research Institute (FAMRI) in preparing a compendium entitled Prevention, Treatment and Cure of Diseases Caused from Exposure to Tobacco Smoke, which was a summary of all research sponsored by FAMRI since 2001. For this 144-page publication, AIBS staff members assisted in writing summaries detailing all ongoing FAMRI-funded research and prepared a number of diagrams representing the FAMRI organizational structure and geographic distribution of FAMRI-funded investigators. In addition, AIBS staff members assembled a detailed bibliography of all publications that were supported by FAMRI funding, and prepared an index for the text. The entire monograph was extensively edited by AIBS staff members, in conjunction with members of the FAMRI organization in Miami.

Office of Naval Research: Program Summary Books-2000 to Present

AIBS SPARS, working with text files provided by ONR, edits the material for consistency, formats the document with page numbers, tables of contents and indexes, and has the books printed and bound. AIBS SPARS also reproduces the books on CDs for distribution. ONR Program Summary Books:
